Temporary Lane Closures due to Gas Leak - June 1, 2018

An unmarked Washington Gas valve was hit during excavation for electrical conduit on the 14th Street NW Streetscape project causing a gas leak. The location of this incident was 14th and S Streets NW. Both northbound and southbound lanes were initially shut down from R to T Streets NW (12:05 pm). The southbound lane was reopened at 1:45 pm; however, the northbound lane remained closed. By 5:00 pm, both lanes had been reopened. The Metropolitan Police Department, Fire Department and Washington Gas were all on site working to reopen travel lanes and resolve the situation as safely and quickly as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience during this incident.
